Residential Geography Trip to Swanage

Year 8 Geography students were invited to take part in the geography residential trip to Swanage on 10th - 12th November to further their understanding and knowledge of core learning subjects they are currently studying in Geography.

30 students and 4 staff ventured out on Monday morning in the terrible weather, making their way to the first stop at Stonehenge. After that, they headed to Swanage and their hostel for the next 2 days. They finished the day with some coursework on Swanage beach.

Day 2 saw them venture to Durdle Door to complete field sketches and to look at the formation of costal arches and bays. During the afternoon, they visited Studland Bay Nature Reserve, where students completed fieldwork focussing on biodiversity along the sand dunes, soil characteristics and shape of the sand dunes.

Day 3 saw them complete some workshops and talks at Monkeyworld ape rescue centre, after which they drove back to school.

Well done to all who took part in this valuable fieldwork trip.
